My Saga Continues

I just emailed Technorati again. They're not my main problem right now, but I am hoping if I get that situation resolved it might help the Blogger problem. This is the last email I received from Technorati. Needless to say, my blog has still not reappeared as a "legitimate" blog despite Jose Cardenas's reassurance!

Simply put, spam is a big problem and sometimes legitimate blogs will
get picked up by the stringent spam rules. I can see that since you
mention jewelry, etc on your blog, it could have mistakenly been picked
out. It shouldn't happen anymore since I marked your blog as a
legitimate blog.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions. Thank you
for using Technorati!

Best Regards,

So it boils down to this?

The bot read your blog as a purely commercial entity. This violates Blogger's TOS.

However, if I were to make a blog called Wickedly Wonderful Wendy Brandes Jewelry" and I posted only about your jewelry, including photos and prices and links to where it could be purchased, would this be acceptable because I am not Wendy Brandes nor an agent or representative?

Let's consider a certain commercial Blogger blog that is directly affiliated with a social shopping network. This is apparently permitted under the TOS; we might infer from the permission (permission being its ongoing existence) that such a blog does not promote its own goods or services and is therefore acceptable. However, the purpose and agenda of such a blog is to create an additional income stream outside of the social shopping network Web site as well as to direct readers off Blogger and on to the social shopping network which has its own domain.

Also (without looking at the TOS), what about blogs that promote services (like musicians) rather than goods?

Is promotion of any sort (goods or service) permissible so long as one does not promote oneself?

Does it just boil down to direct transaction or the possibility of direct transaction?

I have so little do just now that I may go nitpick their TOS.

I don't see the connection between the word "jewelry" and spam unless there is a prohibition against marketing oneself/selling (and at that this is not what you were engaged in).

Am finding this fascinating, since by definition a spam blog engages in link farming and has nonsensical content. And we all know that WB NEVER has nonsensical content. Shame on them! Who do they think they're syntactically screwing?

Apparently, according to your tags, I'm a Google person. I apologize for my wankitude.

btw, i don't know what suzanna mars just said, but it sounds totally hot!

PAD, there's no way you are a Google person, because EVERYONE tells me that you have a huge wang!
Suzanna Mars, will you please be my lawyer??
PPIEW, you crack me up. Those anti-nauseau drugs are really agreeing with you!

I am so sorry this is happening.

It's really indicative that Blogger isn't doing it's job. If anyone had actually been reading your work, they'd see what the true nature of your blog is—a sketch of YOU, not a commercial sales site.

I hope things get back to normal very, very soon.

Also, let me say: I'm so sad; my daily reading fun has really been dampened by this Blogger mess. I miss you!

I'd be happy to act as your lawyer, Wendy (though I'm only a law student- not a very good one at that- and Suzanna would be better at this)!
If a real-life person took one look at the front page of your blog, they'd see at once that it can't possibly be spam. Let's hope this gets sorted out soon.

I found you! I was wondering why you had gone *gasp* more than a few days w/o posting. If your blog is up, does it mean you can post on it again, or can you just look at it while flailing your arms helplessly, shouting 'let me in (to type),, let me in!"? Because, you know, that's what I would do.

Well, all I can say is that it is really good that you don't make ENLARGED PENIS JEWELRY shaped like VIAGRA or you would never get unblocked.
PS: I hate blogger too and the way they always ask me to type in stupid letters even though they already know my identity. It is such a techno-lame operation.

I can't believe you're still in blog purgatory (blogatory???). Maybe if you say a few Hail Mary's and an Act of Contrition they'll let you out.

WendyB said...

Thank you, ENC and Floppy...your comments cheer me up!
BGG, that's exactly what it is...I can look but can't touch. Well, not true. I can COMMENT on my own blog but not publish on it. And now to make matters worse I had to temporarily turn comment moderation on to discourage a comment spammer.
agraham: and they can't do ANYTHING about comment spam. The random letters are supposed to help but someone keeps breaking through anyawy.
Melissa: I'm thinking a well-placed bribe might be more effective.

And days ago...I have been hit with this spam comments and some silly spam blogs...and when I complained, Blogger just sent me a ridiculous reply...see how annoying? I hope things get resolved for you soon...

OH WENDY I HAD NO IDEA THEY BLOCKED YOUR BLOG BECAUSE I WAS SO FAR BEHIND READING POSTS! i hope you get unblocked soon, how can we live without great boobage :0 lol...

WB, I had to drop by and cheer you with this random google that landed on my blog:

underwear searchers muscle

WendyB said...

Hmmm, SM...I wonder which muscle is most exercised by the search for undies?

evie said...

omg... i haven't been reading any blogs for a few days and when i stumbled on yours, i was sure something horrid had happened as it indicated a lack of update for days!!! they better unblock it soon and if they don't, i'm so glad you have a couple of ready lawyers willing to take them to court!

WendyB said...

Evie, I'm scared my blogging muscles will have atrophied by the time the blog is unlocked.

evie said...

no! that cannot happen. who do i write to in google to speed things up? wendy, back me up with your whip!

evie said...

oh wait.. that wasn't a whip, it was your riding crop. same thing... i'm sure we can scare them into submission to get your blog back pronto!

WendyB said...

Evie...whip/crop...does it matter as long as we can beat a bitch's ass?

Christine said...

just cracking up at your posts' tags. see you back at your old blog soon, you dirty spammer!

WendyB said...

LOL...I hope so, Christine.
As you can see, I didn't take this well!

Micgar said...

Damn what a pain in the you know what! My question: why now? You've been blogging for a while, why wasn't it picked up by the anti-spam robots right away?

WendyB said...

Micgar, I guess it took a while for my evil plans to be revealed to them! mwah ha ha ha..MWAH HA HA HA!!!
